About Lance Ruby
Lance Ruby is a versatile guitarist, educator, and performer based in Fort Collins, Colorado. With over a decade of professional experience, Lance has built a career that bridges the stage, the studio, and the classroom.
As a performer, Lance has shared the stage at iconic venues and festivals, including Red Rocks Amphitheater, the UNC Jazz Festival, the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, and the Snowmass Concert Series in Aspen. He has performed alongside groups such as Musketeer Gripweed, Graham Good and the Painters, and many other Colorado-based ensembles, with appearances spanning jazz, rock, funk, and beyond.
In addition to live performance, Lance is an experienced studio musician and producer. His recording credits include albums with Musketeer Gripweed, Bevin Luna, Graham Good and the Painters, and Sugar Britches. He has contributed not only as a guitarist but also as a songwriter, arranger, and producer.
Equally passionate about education, Lance has been teaching private lessons since 2015. He has also taught with organizations like School of Rock Fort Collins, Bravo Arts Academy, and as a guitar instructor for non-music majors at the University of Northern Colorado. Most recently, Lance joined the faculty at Front Range Community College, further expanding his work as a music educator. His teaching philosophy combines structure with creativity, giving students the technical foundation they need while encouraging them to explore their own musical voice.
Lance holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor’s degree in Guitar Performance from Utah State University. Skilled across jazz, rock, blues, and country, he brings both depth and versatility to his music-making and teaching.
Whether on stage or in the studio, Lance works to bring energy, clarity, and inspiration to every musical experience.
